Who is Steve Chitty?

Steve lives in the coastal town of Tauranga in the North Island of New Zealand. He is married to Tracey and they have one beautiful daughter. Steve enjoys the beach lifestyle, going to the gym and playing sport. He describes himself as being most happy when he is 'hanging out with family and friends'.

As a personal coach Steve is passionate about supporting entrepreneurial people.

"I respect anyone who starts a business and chooses a path that the 'everyday person' would shy away from. I've also found entrepreneurial people to be driven by a sincere desire to make a positive contribution through their work and other means. At the end of the day I believe they are leaders that society needs but doesn't always know how to support".

Steve's passion for unleashing the potential in others led him early on to a career in education...

  • 1993 – 1996: Diploma of Teaching, Palmerston North College of Education & Bachelor of Education, Massey University.

  • 1997 – 2003: Youth Worker for All Saints Church, Palmerston North.

  • 2003: Post Graduate Diploma in Business and Administration at Massey University. During his Post Graduate study Steve began researching the role of reflection in the business world.  He noticed a severe lack of information about the place of pro-active reflection in the business world and began to wonder what opportunities this could present.

  • 2003 – 2004: Accredited Coach Training - Life Coaching Academy, Queensland.

While training as a coach Steve continued his research on reflection and discovered that the coaching process encouraged 'turbo charged reflection'. "I'd found what I was looking for! Coaching not only encouraged effective reflection but actually sped it up and led people to take action rather than just reflecting aimlessly".

  • 2004 – Present: Coaching Entrepreneurs, Visionary Managers and Business Owners.

Steve says:

"People who tackle ventures that everyday people would shy away from have big visions and yet seldom have someone who will allow them talk their ideas out. I love listening and enabling people to come up with solutions and strategies that they wouldn't come up with on their own... it's my thing!"

Social Entrepreneurship...

In 2001 Steve led a team of young people to Cambodia and was deeply moved by the potential to make a real difference in the lives of those less fortunate. In 2008 Steve assisted with the formation of a trust which donates money to effective causes in Cambodia. Current projects include supplying education materials for children and teachers right through to providing business loans.

In October 2009 Steve, and his team, are drawing together philanthropists and ethically minded business people to visit Cambodia and become actively involved in solving third world issues. If you would like to find out more about this please feel free to contact Steve on 64 7 575 6533.
